Newest Animatic (i.e. Seminar)

This animatic includes the 1st pass from my awesome composer Isaac!!

Minor Changes

The changes aren’t too big but they should differentiate the characters.

Richard has a red shirt. George has a v-neck. And Teema’s jeans are longer. Simple 🙂

Revised Animatic #2

Updates

Welp for an update. I’m still animating….

And it turns out that my composer will have an updated First Pass for my entire film by the first week of November so that I can put it in my future updated animatic for the Seminar review!

Yay for updates! Speaking of updates….

I’ll have a greatly updated Animatic for next Monday 🙂

I’ll keep you guys updated.

Update

So I have a composer now! He’s absolutely perfect. Literally God-sent.

Here’s the music style he is going for. Its a hybrid of new orleans jazz and blues:

Try playing this video and my animatic at the same time. It’s like magic.

He will definitely add changes in pitch as the story goes on but this is the general tonality he is going for. And its exactly what I was looking for 🙂

Check it out!

Other Stuff:

I should have about 10-15 more scenes of animation by the next time the first group presents – and I plan on getting enough sleep so that I don’t sleep through my alarm in the morning *Diana* Thank you very much.

Revised Animatic

Hey guys! Here is my slightly updated Animatic. It definitely took long enough. I’m just glad to have started animating. 3 scenes down, 50 more to go…

I know that my character designs are different now but there is no way that I am going to waste time changing them in my Animatic. I’m just going to animate them. Nothing in the storyline changes. Its just their character design.

I spent this week mostly animating. I will get revised character designs up sometime next week.

But for now, enjoy my 3 scenes! lol

Updates

I am currently working on Animating. It’s going pretty well so far. I’m having a lot fun with it. I should have the scenes edited into my Animatic to show next week.

I also may have found a composer. I got a call from one of the Composers from the Social. I’m interested to see his take on my film.

That’s it for now! Stay tuned for more updates!

This is it. I promise.

Hey guys so this is very bad but I never thought to ask my grandfather what his friends looked like until now. As I drew his friends out of my own imagination, I started to think, “wait a minute. This is my grandfather’s story, not mine.” So I called him up and asked him what his friends looked like, what they wore, what their skin colors were, what his uncle looked like, what his uncle’s house looked like, what the mules looked like, how tall everyone was compared to one another, etc. And he gave me a wealth of information.

I have decided to make the characters more true to life. Although these boys are only 9 in the story, they were very tall for their ages. These new designs look normal to me because I was very tall for my age also, but I am kind of concerned that the audience wont read them as that young. If so, the changes would be very minor. I would just have to make them all a little shorter which wont take me more than 45mins – 1hr. Let me know what you guys think. If they read ok, I am going to keep them because they really were that tall:

Richard: 5″9

Itema (that’s the correct spelling of his name btw): 5″6

George: 5″8

They were all about an inch apart. Wha??? Super tall right? Taller than half of you guys but that runs in my family as you can see. I was 5″8 at 12 years old 🙂 I had to stop trick-a-treating when I was like 10 because they didn’t believe me anymore after that. 😦 Lol sad story. Anyways, here’s the character designs!

They now all have tennis shoes. They wore converse back in 1949 but they were too complex to draw so I simplified them. It is an unidentified shoe brand lol

Richard (He looks the same):

George:

So it turns out that George looked nothing like my imagination thought he did. I saw him as a fat little cute kid when in reality, he was a tall, handsome, well-built, light skinned ladies guy. According to my grandfather. He also had fat cheeks. Very different. Here’s how he came out:

Uncle Bird:

That’s his name. He was named Bird because he looked like this guy:

My grandfather said that he looked like a cross between that guy and this guy:

hahahaha! I know. He also had on matching Khaki shirt and pants with old school boots. Here’s how he came out:

Itema:

So Itema apparently had a flat-top hairstyle. And he looked like this guy only darker and with a flat-top:

Here’s how he came out:

The Other Two

So these are the other two character finals. I already did the turn-arounds for all of them. These are just the final touches:

George

Teemer

My storyboards are locked. Time to start the backgrounds! Then to the animation!

Update Week 2 (9/5/11)

Here is my final character design that I am going to start animating for my protagonist Richard. Keep in mind that this is a sample backgroud:

The rest of my characters are going to look the same, just with their different features.

Here are a few facial expressions I tried with Richard:

I think if anything, at this point, I am having a hard time balancing everything else I have. My work flow is going to have to triple or else I will be in deeeeeeeep trouble.
